3. Your group will be answering your questions about seed dispersal. Your group will research using the links below.
Seven Types of Seed Dispersal
Biology of Plants Seed Dispersal
How Seeds are Dispersed
4. Watch the video The Great Escape
5. Next, discuss with your group the best way for your seed to travel. Your group writer will write what you have learned about seed dispersal on your KWL chart. The writer will write notes about your ideas for your seed to travel and make notes about why you think that will work. Your group illustrator will create a drawing about how your group’s seed will travel. Your model will be based off this drawing.
6. Create a seed model that will demonstrate how your seed could easily travel across the field. You will receive a pom-pom ball for the inner part of your seed. You will need to create the outer covering that will help that seed move from its parent plant to a new place in the field. Let the teacher know if there are any particular items you will need for your model. Take lots of notes about what you chose and why for your letter.
7. As a group, write an informative/explanatory letter, which includes all five parts of a friendly letter, to Mr. Smith at the seed company about why your seed dispersal will work for the farmer’s field. If you need to review the parts of a letter visit this page.
